OBA Championship Weekend - Kitchener
Submitted By Bob Caron on Monday, August 12, 2013

The AAA OBA Championship brackets have been set for the weekend of Aug 30th to Sep 1st.

Please review the tournament tab (left) for more details, or review our team calendar for game times.

We will also have an opening ceremony to attend on Friday as well.  Please see the note below.

Kitchener OBA Opening Ceremonies Friday August 30, 2013 at 4:30 pm
This year Kitchener Minor Baseball is planning a large opening ceremony for our teams entering into the tournament. The Friday schedule will begin with game #1 for the Minor and the Major teams starting at 2:00 pm. After the first games are completed, all the teams are to report to Hallman Ball Yards for 4:30 pm and have the teams proceed to their respective areas. The ceremonies will start at 4:50 pm sharp. We will parade the teams onto the main ball diamond and introduce them as they enter, and then announce their season record and tournament wins to the crowd.  The Blue Jays have contributed to our tournament by giving some reception gifts to the players and also sending a guest speaker to address the crowd. Kitchener Mayor, Carl Zehr, will also come out to speak, along with a couple of Minor Baseball Representatives. We will then have the singing of O’Canada followed by a couple of ceremonial pitches. The Hallman Concessions will be open before, during and after the ceremonies serving hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks, snacks and souvenirs. This year, KMBA has decided to help out local communities by having a food drive at all of its major baseball events.  We would appreciate it if your teams would bring along small non-perishable food items to donate.  The donation box will be located at Peter Hallman Ball Yards during our Opening Ceremonies.  Kitchener Minor Baseball believes this is good for our kids to learn the importance of giving back to society. The ceremonies will close at approximately 6:30 pm and will have given every participant a memorable start to the Provincial Championships.
