Cooperstown 2017 Recap
Submitted By Lukas Richardson 2.2 (2020) on Sunday, July 16, 2017
The London West Tincaps 2005 Minor Peewee team have returned from Cooperstown, New York with a lifetime of baseball memories.

What an amazing adventure this group of 13 young men and their families had the pleasure of experiencing.  48 excellent teams from across North America were together for a full week of baseball and team-building.

Being one of only 2 Canadian teams in attendance for the week, our boys represented the Tincaps association and our country of Canada in a manner to be proud of.  Employees at All Star Village loved the fact our players were so outgoing, stating they'd never run into a team who was as interactive with them as the Tincaps 2005.

And the experiences these kids had were priceless.  Not only did they face top-notch US opponents on the diamond, but the off-diamond activities helped bring them together in a manner they couldn't get otherwise.  Everything from learning to play pin-poker, Bakers bedtimes stories, and interesting personal hygiene experiences (DO NOT drop your toothbrush on that washroom floor!), these kids will be stronger baseball players and young men because of it.

Thank you to our bunk-house coaches who monitored the boys while the parents could experience a vacation of their own at the campground, creating their own interesting memories.  It's always a challenge keeping things organized and on-task with 13 Mountain Dew and Jello infused boys!  A special thanks to our non-parent coaches and volunteer umpire who participated in support of our players - it's a huge commitment to take a weeks vacation, drive 6 hours each way, and all at personal expense just so these boys and their families could have this adventure.

And finally, thanks to the parents for their commitment on attending.  This tournament was a long time in the planning, and the financial resources needed were significant.  Your child may not realize it yet, but this trip will likely be one of the highlights of their youth, that they will hold with them forever.

Now on to our next big activity - hosting Provincial OBA's!
